About Ilva Canale.
Artist, Ilva Canale, explores sinuous lines guided by the natural movement and sensuality of a woman’s body through the manipulation of various mediums. She manipulates shadows that intertwine with lines to confuse original forms, communicating new emotions. From multi-textured paintings, sculptures of marble, plaster, wood and clay, and metal etchings, Ilva’s creations are bold, spontaneous, fearless & unconventional.
Ilva’s exploration with numerous materials and mediums plays a significant role in the evolution and fearlessness of her creative work. She attributes her ability to work with various mediums to her need to be adaptable depending on her environment and the accessibility to certain materials and tools.
Ilva recognizes that her work has always naturally transformed and returned to the celebration of the woman’s body, as she is guided by natural lines that tend to spontaneously find harmony with the form and silhouette of a woman. She sees beauty in the sensuality of the female form and appreciates the movement of the natural lines. Her recent work explores these sinuous lines through sculptures and textured paintings that she creates in her home studio in her hometown in Brazil.
